Joseph Vern Wilfred Fisher, age 74, of Stuartburn, MB passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at his home.
Vern was born on February 16, 1952, in Rockglen, Saskatchewan, to Henry and Bibiane Fisher. At age 3 they moved to Rosa and then Rosa River MB.
In 1972 he married Gerdie and together they built a life and raised two children, Tracy Fedoruk (Darrel) and Tim (Michelyn). He was a devoted Papa to four grandchildren Kaiden Pagonis, Reece Fedoruk, Addison Fedoruk and Kohen Fisher.
Vern was predeceased by his parents and brothers, Henry and Harry.
He is survived by three sisters, Jean Pott, Diane Brandis (Peter) and Annie Hildebrandt (Rodney) and six brothers, Eddie (Wendy), Cliff (Sandra), Raymond (Joyce), Kenny (Lil), Mouch (Anita), and Roger (Marylyn). He is also survived by brother-in-law Ben Berg (Meryle) and sister-in-law Mary along with many nieces and nephews.
Vern’s greatest joy was his family, being a husband, father, papa, brother, son, uncle, and friend. Vern worked all his years in construction, and the last 50 being his lifelong passion of backhoe operator. His generous nature additionally saw him participate on the Vita Volunteer Fire department for many, many years.
A service to celebrate his life will be held on Friday, September 11, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach, MB. Vern’s request alongside his family was that his celebration be shared with all that knew him showing up informal and preferably in jeans.
