Roman “Ron” Tanchuk

Obituary

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Ron on August 20, 2026 at the age of 85. Ron leaves behind his daughter Joy, brothers Maurice, Ernie, and Wayne (Joanne), nieces and nephews Tracy, Lori, Cindy, Michael, Kelly, Steven, Michael, and Jamie as well as Aunt Helen Tomchuk. He was predeceased by his parents Mary and John, sister Irene, and nephew Andrew.

Ron spent the early part of his years on the family farm around Sarto, MB; moved to Winnipeg in his late teens where he spent his entire life. Ron devoted over 30 years of service to CN Rail as an electrician, retiring at age 65. In retirement he enjoyed spending time with his cousins at the Tomchuk farm in Fisher Branch. He enjoyed the simpler things in life, especially playing cards at Aunt Helen’s on Sunday evenings accompanied by a good home cooked Ukrainian meal.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 3 at 11:30 AM at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 162 Highway 52 West, Steinbach, MB, followed by a reception. Interment will follow at St. Michael Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery in Sarto.
