Obituary

Peacefully in her sleep, on Saturday, September 19, our mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother went to be with her Lord, at Concordia Hospital, Winnipeg, Manitoba, at the age of 84 years.

Mom will be lovingly remembered by her brother, David (Pat); sons, Rick (Barb) and Rob (Lisa); grandchildren, Jeffrey (Brooklyn), Madison, Katheryne (Buddy), Alex (Abby), and Jordan (Haley); and great grandchildren, Rhianna, Rachel, Zander, Sky Rose, Josiah, and Harrison; and by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends.

Mom was predeceased by her husband, Bruce, as well as her father and mother, Lawrence and Marjorie Lumley, and grandson, Bradley.

Mom spent her early years in the Manitoba communities of Darlingford and Thornhill, eventually moving to Winnipeg with her family, where she would meet her husband of 37 years; together they raised their boys and many dogs.

Mom worked for many years, employed at International Harvester, Co-op Implements, and Health Sciences Centre School of Nursing.

She was a lifelong learner who took many courses in her spare time. Mom enjoyed traveling, having gone to Israel, Europe, and Mackinac Island, as a few of her travel highlights. Mom enjoyed crocheting and knitting and she used the computer quite extensively.

Mom was very social. Many long-time friends came from her involvement in the Church, Women’s Aglow, Good Neighbours, and Tai Chi. She had a love of gardening and spent much time amongst her flowers. She and Dad enjoyed camping for many years.

Most of all, Mom enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

The memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., at River East Mennonite Church, 825 Panet Road, Winnipeg, MB; refreshments to follow.
