Wilhelm “Bill” Janzen, age 80, of Steinbach, Manitoba, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at Rest Haven Care Home, Steinbach, MB.
Bill was born in Chihuahua, Mexico on September 25th, 1945. At the age of three he moved to Canada, where he would eventually build a life filled with faith, family, hard work, and countless memories.
Dad gave his heart to the Lord and was baptized upon his confession of faith on May 17th, 1964, in Rainy River Ontario His faith was an important part of his life, and he faithfully attended church throughout the years.
Dad met the love of his life Mary Penner at the age of 16, and they were married on October 25th, 1964, in Stratton, Ontario. Together they built a beautiful life and raised a family of 13 children, ten girls and three boys.
While living in Stratton our family enjoyed having a hobby farm. During the winter he worked as a lumberjack. During the summer months, the family traveled to southern Ontario to work in the field picking tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers and other produce.
A true jack-of-all-trades dad was an incredibly hard worker teaching us all the value of hard work.
In 1992, the family moved to Manitoba, where dad worked in construction until his retirement. These experiences became part of the memories and stories that would be treasured for years to come.
Dad had a special love for flowers and gardening, often working alongside mom. He also had a large collection of clocks and loved to tinker with anything that had a motor. There was always a project on the go and in his own unique way he was always busy fixing building or figuring something out.
Dad was a very special person who loved visiting with friends, family and everyone he met. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was always ready with a smart remark for every situation, especially when teasing mom. His personality, his laughter and his love for life were evident in the impact he had on the people around him.
Above all, dad loved his family. His life was one of hard work, faith, love and laughter and service to those around him. The memories he created and the lives he touched will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith. ~ 2 Timothy 4:7
