Margaret Gayle Hallson (Anderson) age 82 passed away peacefully on Sept 28, 2026 at Extendicare Oakview Place in Winnipeg Manitoba. She was our beloved wife, mother, amma, sister and friend.
Gayle was born on June 10, 1944 in Glenboro, Manitoba to Wilfred and Isabel Anderson. She enjoyed her days growing up on the family farm, before moving to Winnipeg to attend nursing school. She loved her career as a nurse, especially her days caring for patients in the cardiac care unit at Health Sciences Center. She married her soulmate Lyn, and they enjoyed 53 years of building a life and family together before Lyn’s passing in 2017. Gayle loved many hobbies like curling, puttering in the yard, long walks in any weather, and always a good cup of coffee, but nothing brought her more joy than time spent with family. Her three children, their spouses, and her beautiful grandchildren were the light of her life! She often hosted large family gatherings, she loved visiting family on trips with Lyn, and her time spent in Glenboro with her brother and sister and their families! Family meant everything to her.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children; Rod (Jen), Alan (Rachel), Krista (Colin) and her precious granddaughters Megan (Ben), Chelsea (Karl), Emma, Brooklyn, Cassie, Brianna, Sidney, and Maggie. Her sister Marie, and many sisters and brothers in law, nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband and soulmate Lyn, her parents Wilfred, Isabel and stepdad George. Her brother Bruce, in-laws Harold and Leola, and brothers-in-law Gerry S. and Vern.
We would like to say a special thank you to the nurses and staff at Extendicare Oakview Place for their compassionate care, kindness and love they showed our Mom. A very special thank you to another resident Donna, who became Mom’s best friend, sharing a meaningful bond to the end.
A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, October 16, 2026 at the Woodhaven Community Club, 200 Glendale Blvd. Winnipeg, MB R3J 3J1, followed by a short memory walk, and a reception. A private family interment will take place in the Glenboro Cemetery at a later date.
