Obituary

Helen Hirschfield, 87, of Steinbach, formerly of Sprague and Sundown, passed away peacefully at the Vita Hospital on Saturday, July 13, 2019. She was the daughter of Harry and Paraska Chubey.

Those closest to her, and will especially miss her and cherish her memories and times together, are her son Peter (Molly) and grandson Michael; sister Nettie Boychuk and sister-in-law Elizabeth Hirschfield; friend Madeline and several nieces and nephews.

Helen was predeceased by her late husband John; sisters Anne Kowaliuk, Mary Zawada and Katie Gushulak; as well as brothers Mike, Andrew, Bill and Steve; and other dear friends and relatives.

Helen was a member of St. Peter and St. Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Sundown. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Helen may be made to the church.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Vita Hospital and Doctor Olah Ulanovych for the care and compassion they provided for Helen.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, July 22, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel Steinbach, MB., with a viewing prior to the service. Lunch will be served at the chapel following the service. Interment will take place at the Sundown Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery.
