It is with very sad hearts that we announce the passing of Katharina (Tina) Kehler on Sunday, August 23, 2020 at the age of 99.
She leaves to mourn one daughter Tina (Jake) Giesbrecht, two sons Peter (Hildie) and George (Helen), 20 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
She is survived by 2 brothers-in-law, Henry (Susan) Kehler and Ben Hiebert.
She was predeceased by her husband George, her parents Peter and Maria Friesen, two brothers and four sisters, and two granddaughters in infancy.
Katharina was born on September 4,1920 in Prefontaine, MB.
She married the love of her life George D. Kehler on July 16, 1942 and began farming together in the Randolph area.
Tina spent the first years of her marriage raising their family and working alongside George on their farm. In later years she worked for a time at Granny’s.
Some of her greatest joys were gardening, making crafts with her grandchildren and spoiling them. She loved fixing up dolls and sewing doll clothes for her ever-growing doll collection.
Mom and Dad spent countless hours woodworking, staining, painting, fixing many items for the family. They also had a love of puzzling and would spend their time working on many.
They moved off the farm to Mitchell in 1972 and lived there until their move to Steinbach in 2002.
Her last years were spent in Bethesda Place where she made many friends, especially with the exceptional staff!
The family would like to thank Dr. Brittany Penner and the staff at Bethesda Place for their excellent care.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, August 31, 2020 at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB with a private interment to follow at Mitchell Gospel Church Cemetery, Mitchell, MB.
