It’s with great sadness that we announce the passing of Claude Hector Gobeil. July 4, 1948 – November 14, 2020.
Claude fought a lengthy battle with cancer and remained strong and positive throughout.
He is survived by his wife and partner of 45 years, Joan (Eagle) Gobeil. His children Claudette (Gilbert), James (Kelly), Jackie (Rodger), Ryan (Jenn), and Emma-Lee (Riley), as well as 13 grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his oldest daughter Robin, his parents Albert and Hortense sister Eveline Brother Larry, Leon and brother in law David, sister in-law Mona.
Claude grew up in a large family in St. Pierre, MB. He went on to work for Canadian National Telecommunications which amalgamated to become CNCP, Unitel, and then AT&T Canada. He started in 1972 at the bottom and worked his way up to Outside Plant Manager of Mid Western Canada until 2002, when he retired.
He liked to stay busy so after a brief retirement he returned to work in the Construction industry (Crown Utilities and Rohl Enterprises) for many more years.
Claude enjoyed working with his hands, working in his yard, wood working, and most of all spending time with his family. It became normal to have family dinners at the family house every Sunday with his kids and grandkids.
He’ll always be remembered by the way he brought joy and happiness to everyone around him.
Thank you to Father Peter Genger, of Christ the King Parish.
Cremation has taken place.
