Obituary

Kent was born November 23, 1966 in Winnipeg, MB, the first-born of Abram and Susan Wiebe of Springstein. He enjoyed several years living on a farm. In 1970, his family, now including his sister Kathy, moved to Kansas and then to Colorado, where his dad pursued his education for a teaching career. This led to a move to Steinbach, where Kent spent the rest of his childhood years. He attended the Mennonite Collegiate Institute in Gretna for three years and graduated in 1984. He continued studying, and graduated from Canadian Mennonite Bible College in 1988, received his BA from the U of M in 1990, and his BN in 1995, also from U of M.

In 1986, he was baptized upon the confession of his faith in Jesus as Saviour and Lord at the Steinbach Mennonite Church, and later his family joined the Springstein Mennonite Church. In 1993, he married Michelle Hamill and they were blessed with three precious, beautiful daughters, who were his pride and joy. Kent pursued a career in nursing and excelled, not only in clinical skills, but also in the role as educator with a focus on cardiac, emergency and intensive care.

Kent loved the outdoors and for a number of years his family lived at Star Lake where they enjoyed the beauty of that place. During the last several years he was able to enjoy this passion with his partner, Jacobi, and devoted dog, Tilly, while hiking, camping, and traveling. Kent will be remembered for his loving generosity and his attentiveness to those he cared for.

Left to mourn Kent’s passing are: his three daughters: Katie Arlene Susan Wiebe and boyfriend Brendan Laminman, Ella Michelle Wiebe, and Madeline Shea Nellie Wiebe; his parents, Abram and Susan Wiebe, his sister Kathryn and husband Dwight Doell and their family, his partner Jacobi Elliot, a host of Wiebe and Peters uncles, aunts and cousins, devoted, loving friends.

The livestreamed private family service will be held on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Steinbach Mennonite Church. A private family burial will follow the service.
