Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Victor John Holodryga on Friday, July 21, 2017.

Victor was born in Rosa, Manitoba on February 8, 1948, the fourth child of Nettie and John Holodryga.

He is survived by his wife Brenda and their children Eric and Emily, and Eric’s wife Tessa. Also left to mourn his passing are brothers and sisters Peter, Ernie, Elsie and Paul, Susan and Terry, sister-in-law Elaine, Jerry and Cornelia, Jim, David, Mark and Tammy, Ben and Sonja, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Victor was predeceased by his father in 1997, his sister Marion in 2008, his mother in 2009, sister-in-law Linda in 2014, and his brother Richard earlier this year.

Victor grew up on the family farm in Tolstoi, Manitoba. At the age of 18 he moved to Winnipeg to work at Versatile Farm Equipment where he worked his way up to foreman and finally service manager. After 20 years he began his second career with WGI at Westman Culvert in Transcona. That same year, Victor married Brenda, his wife of almost 32 years. They were blessed with two wonderful children. Victor’s work with WGI took the family to Brandon, and later to Regina where he recently retired. During that time he was privileged to travel on behalf of the company to several countries all over the world. That led to many vacations with his family in both Canada, the US, Mexico and the Caribbean. Victor was a loyal, generous and hospitable man who truly loved people. He was happiest when he could share happy times with others. Whether it was golfing, fishing expeditions or weekends at the family farm working or just playing cards, it was the people he enjoyed. He loved the outdoors and making friends with animals. He will be remembered for his vivid sense of humour and positive outlook which he maintained even in the face of adversity and illness.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 162 Hwy. 52 W., Steinbach, Manitoba.
