Obituary

George T. Martens, age 91, of Grunthal MB, passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at the Menno Home in Grunthal, with three generations of family at his side.

Dad was born October 26, 1926 to Katherina and John S. Martens and a family of 12 siblings.

He is survived by: two sons: Cliff (Colleen) and Murray (Sheila);six grandchildren: Chad (Colleen), Christy, Carl (Tamara), Nathan (Stacy), Sid (Melissa) Froese, and Travis (Zoe);16 great-grandchildren: Bailey, Danika, Joel, Gavin, Colter, Kadri, Raea, Levi, Georgia, Kashton, Miles, Reid, Lane, Bentley, and two whom we haven’t met yet; one sister: Nettie Funk.

He was pre-deceased by: his wife of 62 years, Helena in 2010; his son Lawrence in 1975, and his adopted daughter, Lori, in 2007; five brothers: Jake, Peter, John, Henry, and Ben; and five sisters: Katherina, Lena, Mary, Annie, and Jessie.

The memorial service will be held on Friday, February 23, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Grunthal Bergthaler Mennonite Church, 101 Southwood Ave., Grunthal, MB. The burial will be held prior to the service at 11:30 a.m. at the Grunthal Cemetery, Grunthal, MB.
