Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden and peaceful passing of our Mom, Lena Sobering on Sunday, April 21, 2024 at Rest Haven Personal Care Home in Steinbach, Manitoba with family by her side.

Lena was predeceased by her husband Frank (2014), son Mark (2008) and daughter Donna Pereira (2024).

She is survived by her children, Ryan (Michele), Wayne (Debbie) and Rick, her daughter-in-law Nicole and her son-in-law Mario. She is also survived by her grandchildren Jordan, McKenah, Pamela (Brad), Kyle, Cheyenne, Tyler, Sydney, Lukas, Jesse, Jory and Jia and her great-grandchildren Emmett and Rory.

Lena was born in Winkler on July 1, 1934 and married Frank on April 18, 1953. Mom and Dad raised their family in Piney where Mom was a fulltime mom and homemaker. She loved her family and her children were her life. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were most precious to her and she cherished the time she spent with them. Her favorite times were family gatherings when everyone got together to celebrate special occasions.

Mom loved gardening and always had the most beautiful flowers and produce. She was an amazing cook. She enjoyed puzzling and watching curling all her life.

Mom will remain forever cherished, remembered, and loved.

Special thanks to her friends and the amazing staff at Rest Haven who cared for Mom until her passing.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Crossings Funeral Care, 12E – 40 North Gate Drive, Steinbach, Manitoba.
