On Monday, June 30, 2025, Ethan was called home to Jesus his Lord and Saviour in a tragic car accident that claimed his life.
Ethan was born on January 16, 2003, to Jeremy Plett and Candace Braun. He leaves behind to grieve his parents, his stepdad Greg Braun, his stepmom Trish Plett, his sisters Arrielle and Amber, his step siblings, Emily, Bailey and Carter and his fiancé Riley Brandt. There are grandparents, cousins, uncles and aunts, and friends, too many to name individually. All who loved Ethan are left behind to grieve.
Ethan loved his life and family and friends. That is an understatement. Everything Ethan did always put his family first. His friends too, always meant so much to him. Spending time with his friends usually involved either working on cars, snowboarding, biking, golfing or just sitting around the fire.
Ethan had a few jobs since high school after graduating in 2021. His first summer he worked at landscaping, usually coming home covered in dirt from head to toe. In the winter he started at a painting company, loving learning the trade. For those that knew Ethan snowboarding was a passion of his which unfortunately came with some injuries, so Ethan’s painting career was cut short due to needing surgery on one of his wrists. That summer of 2022 was a long summer for Ethan while healing. In the fall Ethan joined Drop in Skate parks. Again, for those that knew Ethan, he loved the bike park. And when he could work at building the parks he was in his glory.
In spring of 2024 Ethan worked briefly for another landscaping company before he started with Unger Excavating in July of 2024. He found a new love, driving big equipment and getting to know a new work family. In January of 2025 Ethan was given the opportunity to get his class 1 trucking license and this is where he found his true love in working, driving semi-truck. He was looking forward to that as his career. Just after getting his license, he was able to go on one long haul trip with his future father-in-law, Frank Brandt. He had found his passion.
On December 30, 2023, Ethan said to his mom, “Mom, I met a girl” That girl was Riley Brandt, the love of his life. In November of 2024 Ethan asked Riley to be his wife, to spend a lifetime with him. She said yes. Over the last 7 months life was so good for Ethan, working on his career, and planning to spend his forever with the love of his life.
Ethan dedicated his life to the Lord at an early age and walked in faith his whole life. Over the last two years he really deepened his faith and in May of 2024 was baptized, professing his faith publicly. It was such a joy to talk to Ethan about his faith and to see how much he loved Jesus.
Ethan dedicated himself whole heartedly in everything he did. As a young boy if he set out to learn a new trick on his bike or skateboard, he didn’t stop until he got it right. He built himself ramps to jump on at home and was always begging to go to the bike park. He loved snowboarding, working on his car, working on Riley’s car, helping a buddy and was always up for anything especially if it meant he could help a friend or family. Over the last few months his future in laws have been renovating their house, Ethan would call on the weekends to ask if there was anything that needed to be done at the house. Ethan also loved to golf. One of his constant and favourite golf partners was his Grandma Reimer.
Ethan was called home far too early for us here on earth. We will miss him so much every day, but we have the assurance and peace knowing that Ethan is in Heaven.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at 3:00 p.m., at Crossview Church, 345 Loewen Blvd, Steinbach, MB., with viewing one hour prior.
