Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Emile, beloved and cherished father, grandfather and great grandfather. Emile died of natural causes at Action Marguerite St. Vital. We take great comfort in knowing that he has reunited in Heaven, with the love of his life, our mom, Barbara.

Emile is survived by; one son and three daughters:

• Doug (Marsha), their children: Samantha (Jeff), Carson, Abby; Scott (Erin), Macy, Wyatt
• Denise (Claude), their children: Jennifer (Devin), their children: Josee, Chloee, Sophee; Kevin; Steven (Danique), their children: Alex, Cobie, Jace
• Lorraine (Eric), their children: Ashley (Shane), their children: Madison,Oliver
• Melissa (Regan), Cassandra & Ethan; Nicholas;
• Sue (Paul), their children: Evan & Paige
• He is pre-deceased by his parents, Cyprien and Jeanne Godard, as well as his three sisters and a brother: Alice, Rosemary, Lionel, Jeanette

Dad was born in St.Jean-Baptiste, Manitoba on November 15, 1936, to Cyprien and Jeanne Godard. Dad married his sweetheart, Barbara, on September 20, 1958, and shared 60 wonderful years together. Dad was very proud of and loved all his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was happiest surrounded by his family and we could always count on his smile and sense of humor at our get togethers. He was a beloved bus driver, custodian and maintenance supervisor for the school in St. Jean for many years. It wasn’t uncommon for him to be approached by former students who were on his bus for their entire school years who would share how much they treasured their daily childhood memories of starting their school days with his smiling face and caring words of encouragement. Dad had so many interests that included playing cards, especially cribbage, and canasta with his siblings, with plenty of laughs when teasing everyone around the table. He enjoyed singing at church, fixing anything you could imagine, taking rides out to the country to inspect the crops, and volunteering his time at Villa Aulneau, to help “the seniors” whenever he could. Dad was very loved by everyone and will be deeply missed.

We will be holding a private service and gathering after by invitation only.
