Our hearts are broken to announce that Leo (George) Paquette, age 69, of TĂȘte Jaune, B.C., passed away suddenly after a lengthy illness on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at his home in Steinbach, MB.
He is survived by his two children Serena and Jeremy, his daughter-in-law Charmaine, his five grandchildren Alex, Autumn, Cydney, Aurora, and Leo, and his three great-grandchildren Nicco, Oakley, and Raya.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife Jean Paquette.
George was born December 6, 1955, in McBride, BC, to his parents Edna & Leo Paquette. He grew up in TĂȘte Jaune with his family. He worked in the logging industry and was able to operate any machinery. He met his wife in 1973, were engaged and married in 1974. They gave birth to their daughter in 1975 and completed their family with their son in 1976. His children fondly remember the adventures they had finding new fishing spots and swimming holes. George loved nature, gardening, and was an avid stargazer always showing his children and grandchildren different constellations. His favourite constellation was Andromeda. He loved playing card games and made many friends doing so. He enjoyed going to Poker Night where he was lovingly referred to as Jorge.
George is lovingly remembered for his sense of humour, his loving and caring nature, and for always being there for his family. He was a very strong and determined man.
A private family service will be held.
Special thanks to the hemodialysis nurses out of Seven Oaks Hospital, his home care nurses, and the heart staff at St. Boniface Hospital.
He will be deeply missed and loved forever.
