Irma Dueck

Obituary

In November 2018 Irma wrote the following:

“I, Irma Dueck, was born on November 2, 1928, in Steinhagen Mecklenburg. My parents were Wilhelm and Valentine Schacht. I had a wonderful childhood with my 5 siblings which became very disrupted because of the war. Especially so because of the death of my brother at such a young age. In 1950, I married Hermann Dueck and a week after my wedding we embarked on our journey to Canada. Here we were welcomed and accepted by loving people. We had 5 healthy children. We shared the joys and sorrows of life for 30 years. The Lord carried us through all those difficult times starting our life in Canada. My dear husband was called to eternal life early in 1981 – much too soon for all of us. But the Lord was there in those most difficult days. I am thankful for all those years I had with my 5 children, their spouses, 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.”

Today there are 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Irma passed to eternal life on Sunday, August 17, 2025, with family blessing her departure. She leaves to mourn two sons and two daughters and their spouses and their families, one daughter-in-law and their families, one sister and one brother.

She was predeceased by her husband, one son, one son-in-law, two brothers and one sister.

The funeral service will be held on Sunday August 24, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB. Interment to follow at the Grunthal Cemetery, Grunthal, MB.
