Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jeannette Saltel (Mondor), known to many as “Mama Jean” on September 2nd, 2025 at Ste. Anne Hospital at the age of 79 years.

She was predeceased by her loving husband Marcel, her parents Octave and Jeanne Mondor, her siblings Dianne, Denis, and Pauline, her granddaughter Jordynn and numerous in-laws.

Jeannette was an incredible soul to all of those around her. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her children; Denise (Daryl), Marc, Lise (Ron), grandchildren; Brenden, Kylie and Michaela. She will also be missed by her brothers Roland (Cathy) and Louis, her sister-in-laws; Jeannine (Roland) and Lucille, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.

Jeannette grew up in Lorette, MB where she met Marcel and moved to Ste. Geneviève to start their life together and raise a family. Jeannette spent most of her career working at the Villa Youville in Ste. Anne, MB.

Mama Jean was loving and generous. Coffee was always on and her home was welcoming to everyone who dropped in. She especially cherished her visits with her coffee girls. She enjoyed getaways at the family cabins, spoiling her numerous pets, painting, shopping, and brain-waving (as she would call it) her new ideas – which became projects for her kids.

Mama Jean’s wittiness, Ste. Geneviève slang, and one of a kind personality will forever be remembered and loved by all.

The family would like to extend a sincere Thank You to the staff at Villa Youville – Supportive Living, where she resided for the last 6 months, for all of their incredible care and compassion.

At her request, a private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
