Peacefully, with family by her side, on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at the age of 97 years, Marie Manchulenko passed away at Repos Jolys, St. Pierre, MB.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Gladys (John) Goulet, and her son George (Carol) Manchulenko.
She also leaves to mourn her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Ken (Kym) Goulet, Duncan and Anna; Karen (John) Deen, Peyton Deen, Robyn Budey (Dylan Anderson) and Lauren Budey; Alex and Amanda Manchulenko; Will and Connie, and Myles Manchulenko; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Marie was predeceased by her husband Alec in 2005, her sister Annie (Senchuk), Olga, and Jenny (Holstrom) and brother Mickey (Mike).
Known as “Little Baba”, Marie was born on May 3, 1928 in East Braintree, MB, where she was raised until meeting Dad (Alec). They were married July 27, 1946 and settled in Dufrost, MB.
Family and farm life was always important to her, whether it was butchering chickens for Sunday dinner, milking cows, planting and harvesting a huge garden, helping with harvesting crops or looking after grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was always a hard-working woman, tending to her flowers, sewing, making holuptsi, pyrogies, or quietly knitting.
In her later years she enjoyed Bingo, gatherings and occasionally, her rum. She always had a witty attitude and good memory.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB, with viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment to follow at the Assumption of the Virgin Mary Ukrainian Greek Orthodox Cemetery, Rd 26 N, Dufrost, MB.
Thank you to the doctors and excellent nursing staff at Repos Jolys for their care and compassion during her stay there.
Rest in Peace “Little Baba”.
