Obituary

C’est avec une profonde tristesse que nous annonçons le décès de Maurice Saive, survenu le 21 octobre 2025, à l’âge de 78 ans, époux bien-aimé, père dévoué, grand-père et arrière-grand-père adoré.

Il laisse dans le deuil son épouse bien-aimée depuis 55 ans Diane (Fontaine), ses enfants Martin (Nicole), Francine (Stéfane), Réjean (Maggie) et André.

Il était un grand-papa fier de Ashley (Keith), Nicolas, Léa, Joelle, Benjamin, Éloi, Caleb, Brielle ainsi qu’arrière-grand-père de Sophie, dont tous lui apportaient grande joie.

Il laisse également dans le deuil son beau-frère Gérald et son épouse Éliane (Carmel), ainsi que ses nièces et son neveu Lynne, Ron et Monique.

Maurice a été précédé dans la mort par ses parents Jean-Baptiste et Georgette (Cormier), ses beaux-parents Armand J. Fontaine et Annette (Côté) ainsi que par son beau-frère Paul et sa belle-sœur Henriette (Morin).

Maurice a grandi à Otterburne et a obtenu son diplôme du Collège d’Otterburne. En 1970, il s’est installé à Saint-Pierre-Jolys lorsqu’il a épousé Diane.

Maurice a travaillé pendant plus de 30 ans chez Manitoba Hydro à Saint-Pierre-Jolys et Steinbach, où il était reconnu pour son dévouement et son travail consciencieux. Il a aussi été gérant de la Caisse Populaire à Sainte Rose et à Otterburne pendant plus de 20 ans.

Membre actif de la société, il a généreusement donné de son temps en tant que bénévole auprès d’organismes sportifs, sociaux et culturels, toujours désireux de soutenir et de renforcer sa communauté.

On se souviendra de Maurice pour sa force tranquille, son sourire chaleureux et l’amour profond qu’il portait à sa famille.

La famille aimerait remercier le personnel de l’hôpital de Saint-Pierre pour leurs soins attentionnés et leur compassion. Merci au père Paulin Akpapupu et la chorale de Saint Viateur pour leur participation à la célébration de vie.

Les funérailles auront lieu le 15 novembre 2025 a 10h30 à la paroisse Saint-Viateur, en l’église d’Otterburne. La famille vous accueillera ensuite au club de curling d’Otterburne pour un goûter en toute simplicité.

Son héritage d’amour, de simplicité et de générosité vivra dans le cœur de tous ceux qui l’ont connu.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Maurice Saive on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at the age of 78.

Beloved husband, devoted father, cherished grandfather and great-grandfather.

He leaves to mourn his loving wife of 55 years, Diane (Fontaine), his children Martin (Nicole), Francine (Stéfane), Réjean (Maggie), and André. He was a proud grandfather to Ashley (Keith), Nicolas, Léa, Joelle, Benjamin, Éloi, Caleb, Brielle and great-grandfather to little Sophie, who all brought him great joy.

He is also survived by his brother-in-law Gérald and his wife Eliane (Carmel), and by his nieces and nephew Lynne, Ron, and Monique.

Maurice was predeceased by his parents Jean-Baptiste and Georgette (Cormier), his in-laws Armand J. Fontaine and Annette (Côté) as well as his brother-in-law Paul and sister-in-law Henriette (Morin).

Maurice grew up in Otterburne and graduated from Collège d’Otterburne. In 1970, he moved to Saint-Pierre-Jolys when he married Diane.

Maurice worked for over 30 years with Manitoba Hydro in Saint-Pierre-Jolys and Steinbach, where he was respected for his dedication and hard work. He was also manager of La Caisse Populaire in Sainte Rose and Otterburne for over 20 years.

An active member of society, he generously volunteered with sport, social and cultural organizations, always eager to support and strengthen his community.

Maurice will be remembered for his quiet strength, warm smile, and the deep love he had for his family.

The family would like to thank the hospital staff at Saint-Pierre Hospital for their attentive care and compassion.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., at Saint-Viateur Parish in the Otterburne church. The family will welcome you afterward at the Otterburne Curling Club for a light lunch and gathering.

His legacy of love, humility, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
