Obituary

Joan Hoare, age 92, of Steinbach, Manitoba, passed away on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at the Bethesda Regional Health Centre, Steinbach, MB.

Joan was born in St Helier, Jersey (Channel Islands) in 1933. As a child she lived in various places with her Parents and Grandmother. They spent a year on Vancouver Island when she was about three years old and the war years in Penrith (Northern England). They also spent time in Bournemouth on the South coast of England but always returned to Nottingham where she met and married her beloved husband, Alan. She went on to have three children, Michael, Anne and Sylvia.

When Alan retired, they moved to Canada to be close to their daughter, Anne. She loved to sew, knit and embroider and would make clothes for the children, as well as professionally. Her first job, when she was fourteen, was sewing and later she worked in various dress shops. She was always immaculately dressed. She played the piano throughout her life and would play for the Church, Sunday School and Personal Care Home.

She had many friends both in England and Canada and always kept in touch with them all. All her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a source of great pride and joy in her life.

She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at 11:30 a.m., at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 465 Henry Street, Steinbach, MB.
