Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear husband, father, opa, and opi, Louis Cornelis Baltus, with family by his side on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at Bethesda Regional Health Centre in Steinbach, Manitoba, at the age of 91 years.

Louis leaves behind his loving wife of 68 years, Maria, along with their five children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous relatives and friends.

Louis was born in The Netherlands in 1934. These formative years during the war shaped his character, leading him to develop a love of history, aviation, and mechanics, which ultimately led to his career as a mechanic and educator.

Louis was endlessly curious and will always be remembered for his love of people, his tinkering, his ability to fix almost anything, and his jovial and infectious laugh.

Louis was always a supporter of local charities; as such, if family and friends wish to honour his memory, donations can be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Private family services are being planned for a later date.
