Obituary

Ellen Elizabeth Bergen, full of love and kindness, passed into the Lord’s embrace on March 21, 2026, in Morris, Manitoba, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Inverness County, Nova Scotia, on February 12, 1946, Ellen’s journey of life would touch the hearts of many.

Ellen’s life was a testament to her unwavering faith, her creative spirit, and her dedication to her family. She shared a happy marriage with the late Martin Bergen, and together they shared 53 years of love. Ellen was a cherished sister to her siblings, Phillip (deceased), Harv (Darby), Sandy (Pam), Keith (Deceased), Dana (Debbie), and Angela La Rose (Mike).

Blessed with three children, Doug Bergen (Cheryl), Brenda Snowball (Brian), and Barry Bergen (Jessica), Ellen instilled in them the values of compassion and resilience. She took immense pride in her role as a grandmother to Christopher (Val), Carson, Niahm, Kendra, Meaghan, Karson, Isabelle, Skylar, and Tyson. Her love further extended to her great-grandchildren, Rebecca and Olivia, whom she adored with every fiber of her being.

For 25 years, Ellen served with devotion at Morris General Hospital, where her kindness left a lasting mark on her colleagues. Her dedication to service was as much a part of her as her faith. Ellen’s Christian beliefs were an important part of her life, guiding her actions and inspiring those around her.

Ellen had a passion for crafts and being creative. Cross-stitch, drawing, sewing, knitting, and baking brought beauty and delight to the world. Her creations were not merely items of cloth and thread, but woven tales of her love, shared generously with all.

As Ellen has now joined the heavenly choir, we remember her with words that inspire as she lived: “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.” ~ 1 Corinthians 13:4. Ellen embodied this scripture, demonstrating patience, kindness, and humility throughout her life.

A loving, kind, and creative soul, Ellen’s memory will remain a guiding star for her family, a reminder of her gentle strength and boundless affection. Her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched, for Ellen truly understood that the essence of life is encapsulated in love and the connections we foster.

As we bid farewell to Ellen Elizabeth Bergen, we celebrate her life, full of faith, love, and creativity. She leaves behind a world more beautiful for her presence and a family that will forever cherish the blessings of her love. May she rest in eternal peace, cradled in the Lord’s loving arms, where every tear is wiped away, and joy knows no end.

The family wishes to thank the staff of the Morris Hospital, Boundary Trails Hospital and CancerCare, Dr. Woelk, and the numerous family and friends for their prayers and support.
