Obituary

Carol Anne Perch of Winnipeg passed away on May 18, 2026, at the age of 88.

Carol is survived by her granddaughter Caitlin Barry (Aron), her great-grandchildren Abrielle and Caelix and her husband’s siblings, Louise Paley and Nicholas Pyrch. She is also survived by her son Bob, loving nieces and nephews on both sides of her family, cousins in Scotland and Canada and dozens of friends who Carol always considered family.

Carol was predeceased by her husband Michael Perch, her daughter Carol Lynn Perch, her sisters Joan Dixon and Marcia Beare, and her husband’s siblings John Perch, Peter Perch, Edward Perch, Anne Kosheluk and Mary Pyrch.

Carol was born December 19, 1937, in Winnipeg. Carol’s father was a manager with Hudson’s Bay Company, The Bay Northern Stores. His travels to remote parts of Canada filled his daughters with awe and pride. Carol went on to work at Hudson’s Bay House in Winnipeg, proudly following in her father’s footsteps. After retiring from Hudson’s Bay House Carol worked as an accountant at various Law Offices, earning a reputation for being rigorous in her professionalism and attention to detail.

Carol married Mike in 1970 and was welcomed into the extended Perch family, enjoying her new role as mom to Carol Lynn. Mike and Carol enjoyed a loving and fulfilling life until Mike’s death in 1987. Carol was delighted to become a grandmother upon the birth of Caitlin. Upon the untimely death of Carol Lynn, Carol dedicated herself to being an active member of Caitlin’s life, and enjoyed her continuing role as grandmother and great-grandmother to Caitlin and her children.

Carol was committed to service to her family, her friends and her community. As a member of St. Luke’s Church, Carol served in many capacities, continuing in her support of the church until her death. Carol was a long-time Big Sister and was a volunteer at Riverview Health Centre. She was an enthusiastic traveler and athlete, enjoying bowling, golf and line dancing. And Carol was a huge Blue Bomber fan.

In her last three years Carol lived at Seine River Retirement Residence (SRRR), where she enjoyed a full life, and continued to add friends to her community. Many thanks to the staff and residents at Seine River who welcomed Carol into their midst. Carol was also privileged to develop treasured relationships with Home Care professionals from Winnipeg Health Care Authority. Special thanks to nurse Robin.

In her last weeks Carol was confined to hospital and was supported by Angela, Alicia and Zuffan from Just Like Family Home Care. Their companionship enabled Carol to maintain her indomitable sense of humour and good nature.

Carol had an enthusiasm for life and a compassion for people that continued right up until her death. She lived her life fully and completely and brought joy to all who knew her.
