Obituary

Following a lengthy illness Ken Davidson passed away May 31, 2026 at the Morris General Hospital at the age of 76 years.

Ken is survived by his wife Kathy, one daughter Celeste (Jan Jr.) Kaczmarski, one son Jay Davidson, sisters: Shirley (Rick) Robson and Carley (Chris) Juzda; nieces Tara, Anika and Jane; Parents in-law Ralph and Emily Thompson; brothers-in-law: Baray Thompson and Doug (Leeann) Thompson; sister-in-law Cheryl (Daniel) Thompson; nephews: Cole, Derek and Jared; Niece Chanell.

Ken is predeceased by his parents Eugene (“Jeep”) and Mary, and one nephew Aran.

Ken was born and raised in Nova Scotia. When he was 18 he moved to Manitoba with his parents and sisters. His dad was in the military and was stationed to CFB Shilo.

He loved all sports. As a young man he played basketball, hockey and baseball. Today he only watched them on TV.

He tried to golf, but mostly loved it because he could spend time with Jay. He was a sports dad when the kids were young coaching their soccer, hockey and baseball games.

Ken had a lengthy career as a manager. He managed Old Dutch Foods in Brandon, Manitoba and after that working side by side with Kathy as a retail and food manager for 20 years with Arctic Cooperative and North West Co. Both are based in Winnipeg and have their stores situated in NWT, Nunavut and the northern part of our provinces.

His work allowed him to meet and work with many nationalities and cultures. He retired from the North to Vancouver Island where he lived for 13 years.

His final move was in 2023 when he moved back to Manitoba to be with family where he spent his final days with Kathy and Jay.

The family would like to thank the Morris Hospital for the wonderful medical care and compassion given to Ken. The doctors, nurses and care aids went above and beyond to make Ken comfortable. We also want to thank Jenn and staff from Southern Health Home Care. The four and a half months they took care of Ken at home was amazing. They made us feel like family.
