Obituary

John Schmidt passed away in the early morning of Saturday, June 6, 2026, in his sleep.

He is survived by his wife Marie (Kroeker); two daughters, Ingrid (Lorne) Peters, Laurel Plett; three sons, Leo (Pat) Schmidt, Marvin (Trisha) Schmidt, Merle (Shelley) Schmidt, 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents, Peter & Judith; all his siblings, Helen, Peter (Ann), Abe (Margaret), Elizabeth (Earl) Poidevin, Agnes (Henry) Falk, Sara (twin to Agnes). His parents-in-law, Cornelius & Eva Kroeker; four brothers-in-law; three sisters-in-law; and son-in-law Barry Plett.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB.
