It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of our beloved David Catellier. In the late evening of Sunday, June 14, 2026, David took his last breath after a very long battle with multiple health complications.
David spent majority of his life living in Vita. He was raised by his parents Fred & Eveline Catellier on the farm and in 1987 married his loving wife JoAnne. The couple spent a few years in Winnipeg and moved back to the country to raise their family. David had worked many jobs over the years. The lengthy mentions being farmhands, Puratone/VSG, and DNA genetics. Unfortunately, with 40 years of diabetes came 6 years of home hemodialysis then a dementia diagnosis and a significant loss of mobility.
Dave grew up playing broomball, baseball, wrestling and coached along the way. He enjoyed gardening, cutting firewood, and watching the WWE and Blue Jays games. He spent many years volunteering his time at the Vita arena. David was an avid hunter and had a true passion for fishing. Even with mobility struggles he was grateful when Amber would wheel him close to any bank so he could cast a line or just watch if it was too steep. In his last years he got immense joy from his kitty cats and just being outdoors riding his scooter checking things out in the yard.
David leaves to mourn his wife of 38 years JoAnne (nee Maxymowich), daughter Sarah, daughter and son-in-law Amber & Ben, siblings Gerte (Bobby), Paul (Irene), Daniel, Joey (Monique), along with in-laws, and numerous nieces and nephews.
We will miss his “adventures”, funny songs, wisecracks, devotion, loyalty, and his entirety.
