Eddie Penner of Ste. Agathe, MB, passed away suddenly (yet peacefully), on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at the age of 60, at St. Boniface Hospital, Winnipeg, MB.
He will be lovingly remembered by the love of his life, Trudy Penner, and their children: Brian & Charlene Penner (Zoey, Caitlin & Dallas); Pearl & Ben Neufeld (Aaliyah); Stephanie & Mark Neufeld (Alistair, Harper, and baby); Jenifer & Steven Berg (Xavier, Chasity, Zayden, Tegan); Melissa & John Wiebe (Lincoln); Justen & Sharon Penner (Ella, Grayson, Theo), and his extended family.
He was predeceased by his parents Erdman & Gertrude Penner, and his father-in-law, William Kehler, his brother Ben, two brothers-in-law, and five nephews.
Eddie was born on November 4, 1965, in Paraguay. On July 22, 1984, he married the love of his life, Trudy, in Paraguay, and shortly afterward they moved to Canada. Over the years, he held many jobs, including grocery store clerk, semi-truck driver, and chicken farm worker, before finding his true passion in farming. Ed and Trudy began selling at farmers’ markets and quickly realized it was the work they wanted to do together.
Those of you that knew Ed would know what we mean when we talk about his mischievous smile and child-like demeanor. He had a love for life, his family, and for cooking. If you had the honor of tasting his food, you would truly understand this gift of his. He was always experimenting in the kitchen, but best of all was his Paraguayan BBQ.
He was a private man, but if you had the privilege to get to know him, he was caring with a servant’s heart.
His faith in God was evident, and we trust that he is with the Lord.
Dad will be greatly missed.
The funeral service for Ed will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB.
