Obituary

It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, Richard Dorge, who passed away on July 3rd, 2026.

He leaves to mourn his beautiful wife of 64 years, Laurence (Raynaud), and his daughters Chantal (Christopher) and Sylvie (Charlie). He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Danny (Sara), Christian, Justin (Sydney), Sebastien (Christina), Makayla (Hayden), and by his step-grandchildren Brynn, Cameron, Maddie and Devon. His great-grandchildren Aubree, Natalie, Waylon and Lorrayne who were the light of his life.

He is also survived by his dear friend of many years, Donald (Claudette) Robert, whose constant support and friendship meant so much to him.

Richard was a farmer most of his life, and a school bus driver for 43 years. He was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus for over 60 years.

He had many hobbies and interests that brought him joy and connected him to the people he loved. A self-described “goalie in his slightly younger years,” Richard said he may not have been the best, but he had fun. He was a loyal fan of the Winnipeg Jets and Toronto Blue Jays. He enjoyed playing cards with friends and family, tending his garden, driving his tractor, playing the violin and harmonica, and was always ready to lend a hand. He rarely missed a chance to be involved – whether it was serving on many committees in Ste-Agathe or acting in plays. He was especially proud of the “Last Supper” scene he painted in the Ste-Agathe church.

Above all, Richard’s greatest pride was his family. He always had a smile on his face when bragging about them. He was always at the rink cheering them on in hockey and supporting them in everything they did. He truly was their biggest fan.

Richard was known for his big personality, quick wit, sarcasm, stubbornness and sense of humour. He loved deeply and showed it in his own way. His wife, daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy, and they will carry his love and legacy forward.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff at Niverville Manor, the homecare team, and Marnie from Palliative Care for their kindness and support. A special thank you to Tammy and Monica for their exceptional loving care. Thank you as well to everyone who visited Richard over the past year – he always enjoyed a visit and a good chat.

A funeral mass will be held at the Ste-Agathe Catholic Church on Friday July 24, 2026 at 11:00 a.m.

C’est avec une immense tristesse que nous annonçons le décès de notre cherépoux, père, grand-père et arrière-grand-père, Richard Dorge, decede le 3 juillet 2026.

Il laisse dans le deuil son épouse bien-aimée depuis 64 ans, Laurence (Raynaud), ainsi que ses filles Chantal (Christopher) et Sylvie (Charlie). Il laisse également dans le deuilses petits-enfants Danny (Sara), Christian, Justin (Sydney), Sébastien (Christina) et Makayla (Hayden), ainsi que ses petits-enfants par alliance Brynn, Cameron, Maddie et Devon. Ses arrière-petits-enfants Aubree, Natalie, Waylon et Lorrayne, qui étaient la lumière de sa vie.

Il laisse aussi dans le deuil son grand ami de longue date, Donald (Claudette) Robert, dontl’amitié fidèle et le soutien constant lui étaient très précieux.

Richard a d’abordétéagriculteurdeconsacrer43 années de sa vie commeconducteurd’autobusscolaire. Il étaitégalement un membrefier et dévoué des Chevaliers de Colomb pendant plus de 60 ans.

Richard avait de nombreuses passions qui remplissaient sa vie de bonheur. Dans sa jeunesse, il aimait garder les buts au hockey. Il disait souventen riant qu’il n’était peut-être pas le meilleur gardien, mais qu’il avait toujours beaucoup de plaisir. Il était un fervent partisan des Jets de Winnipeg et des Blue Jays de Toronto. Il aimait jouer aux cartes avec sa famille et ses amis, jardiner, conduire son tracteur, jouer du violon et de l’harmonica, et il était toujours prêt à donner un coup de main.

Très impliqué dans sa communauté de Sainte-Agathe, il siégeait sur plusieurs comités et participait à de nombreuses pièces de théâtre. Il était particulièrement fier d’avoir peint la scène de La Cène à l’église de Sainte-Agathe.

Par-dessus tout, Richard était profondément attaché à sa famille. Il ne manquait jamais une occasion d’encourager ses petits-enfants lors de leurs parties de hockey. Présent dans les estrades, il était sans contredit leur plus grand partisan.

Richard restera dans les mémoires pour sa grande personnalité, son humour, son sarcasme, son caractère bien trempé et son immense générosité. Il aimait sa famille de tout son cœur. Son épouse, ses filles, ses petits-enfants et ses arrière-petits-enfants étaient sa plus grande fierté et sa plus grande joie.

La famille désire exprimer sa sincère reconnaissance au personnel de Niverville Assisted Living, à l’équipe de soins à domicile ainsiqu’à Marnie, des soins palliatifs, pour les excellentss oins, la compassion et le soutien offerts. Un merci tout particulier à Tammy et Monica pour leur dévouement et les soins remplis de tendresse qu’elles lui ont prodigués. Merci également à tous ceux qui sont venus rendre visite à Richard au cours de la dernièreannée; il appréciait toujoursu ne bonne visite et une belle conversation.
