Obituary

Norman James Klassen, known to most as Jim, passed away suddenly in Morris, Manitoba, on July 31, 2026, at the age of 77.

Jim was born on September 15th, 1948, in Carman, Manitoba. He lived a life marked by love, hard work, and a wonderful sense of humor that could turn an ordinary moment into a memorable one.

He worked as a drywaller then a welder, trades that suited his practical nature and steady hands. Jim knew the value of an honest day’s work, and he approached his responsibilities with the same dependable spirit that he brought to the rest of his life.

Jim’s faith was an important part of his life, and it reflected the kindness and care he showed to others. He was loving in the truest sense of the word, and he carried that love into his home, his friendships, and every conversation where he had the chance to check in, tease gently, or offer a thoughtful word. He was funny in a way that felt natural and warm and always invited you to join in on the fun.

He enjoyed playing guitar and video games, and he especially loved a good movie night with his family. Jim valued time spent together more than anything flashy or complicated. Whether he was strumming a tune, trying to win a game, or settling in for a movie with the people he loved, he made ordinary evenings feel special.

Jim was predeceased by his beloved wife, Darlene; his son, Daniel; his parents, Norman and Susie; his brothers, Henry Sr. and Rick; his sister, Esther; his nephews; Douglas, Henry Jr. and Clinton. Their memories remained close to his heart throughout his life, and now they are reunited.

He is survived by his son, Ray; his daughter, Jennifer and his grandson Hunter. He is also survived by his sisters, Norma and Helen and by his aunt, Anne. There are also many nieces and nephews who will carry forward the family stories, the laughter, and the unmistakable Jim-style commentary that made every gathering more interesting.

Jim’s life was best described by the words optimistic, loving, and funny. He was the sort of person who believed tomorrow could be better, who loved people deeply, and who knew that laughter was often the best tool in the toolbox.

Those who knew Jim will remember his easygoing presence, his steady heart, and the way he could make even a quiet moment feel warmer. Jim lived well, loved deeply, and laughed often, which is a pretty fine way to spend a life.

A great man has not passed away, but has levelled up.

You will always be loved and deeply missed.
