Obituary

It is with both joy and sadness that we announce the passing of Audrey Baldwin. She passed away peacefully on September 4, 2026, at the age of 99 at the Niverville Heritage Personal Care Home.

Audrey was born on January 16, 1927, at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg, MB. She grew up in Otterburne where she met the love of her life, Stewart.

As a young girl, Audrey lived in Winnipeg and found employment at Eaton’s department store. On weekends, Audrey would come home and on one of those weekends, she met Stewart who was home from military duty. That led to marriage on November 9, 1946. Soon, they began raising a family while running the family farm.

With the three youngest children at home, Audrey decided to return to the work force at Maison St. Jospeh (now known as part of Providence College) as a cook.

Audrey had many hobbies which included curling, snowmobiling on Sundays, playing cards, camping, reading about the royal family, and watching the Jets, Jays, and Bombers on TV. Once the children were grown, Stewart and Audrey decided to become snowbirds and spent winters in Weslaco, Texas.

When Stewart passed, Audrey moved to Steinbach and spent her weekends at the family farm in Otterburne. While in Steinbach, she was active in the 55 Plus. Then another decision was made and that was to move to the Niverville Heritage Center. This was her final home.

Audrey will be remembered and deeply missed by her children: Pat, Jim (Lori), Marlene, Doug (Claudette), Brenda (Ed), Tim (Arlene), and Scott (Pamela). She will be missed by her 16 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren. She is survived by her sister, Joan Gylywoychuk.

Audrey was predeceased by her husband, Stewart, her son, Bill, and her son-in-law, Brian Grover.

The family wishes to thank the staff at the Niverville Heritage Center and Personal Care Home for all the care and support they provided Audrey.

She filled our life with boundless warmth, grace and kindness. However, she was also feisty and said everything as she saw it. She led her life with strength, determination, and trust. Though she is gone, her love will remain an anchor for our family always.

A service will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB.
