After a brief illness, Dennis passed away peacefully with his loving wife holding his hands at the Grace Hospital, Winnipeg, MB., on Tuesday, September 29, 2026.
He is survived by the one he loved so dearly his wife Lorraine, whom he shared 41 years of an amazing love story. He is also survived by his bothers Harry (Dora), Jack (Clara), John (Verna), and Peter (Anna). Dennis is also survived by his in-laws Ruth (Henry), Darlene (Jake) and Ken (Joanne). Dennis is also survived by so many nephew and nieces, and many “adopted” grandchildren – who loved Dennis for exactly who he was.
Dennis and Lorainne were married on July 14th, 1985, in Paraguay, South America . Spending most of their lives in Steinbach, Manitoba their home was always open for friends and family to visit. Their porch in the backyard was the site of so many visits with family and friends, with so many laughs that the neighbour heard the laughter so many times, that he had to join them. It was a place of love, where Dennis and Lorraine visited and served so much food, followed by deep conversations, that when one left, they knew that Dennis and Lorraine cared and loved those that visited with him.
Dennis was a man with many talents, and he shared those gifts unselfishly in serving others. When called upon to help, Dennis often dropped everything and lent a helping hand, so often these acts of service would fill a book. Dennis worked at Loewen Windows for 14 years, and then started his own Business – DNL Painting in 2004. For many years Dennis painted homes, businesses, cabins and even his church, and his painting skills were exceptional. Dennis also completed finishing work, did Cabinetry work, flooring and other such jobs, so professional well done when done it looked like a show room. Dennis often repainted Cabinets, making the old cabinets look brand new, in fact often people asked his customer where the new cabinets came from, and all that Dennis had done was repaint and finish them, making them look Brand New. His last job was as a Blind Man, installing blinds.
Dennis was deeply committed to his wife, and even when he was sick, took care of her, driving her to work at 5 in the morning. Dennis wanted everything for his wife, and in his own way made sure that she was looked after, and through his loving actions is still doing so today.
Lorraine would like to thank the staff at Grace Hospital for their exceptional care of Dennis as well as Bethesda Hospital. She would also like to express her deepest appreciation for all the prayers and all those that visited and messaged Dennis after being told his time was short. Those visits and messages meant the world to Dennis and Lorriane. Also, a heartfelt thanks to Birchwood Funeral Chapel for taking care of Dennis during this difficult time.
