Last week our government tabled the 2019-2020 budget for the province. While there were many important parts of the budget that deserve to be highlighted, no doubt the one that has garnered the most attention is the announcement that we will lower the provincial sales tax from 8% to 7% on July 1, 2019.

As I travel about I frequently pick up garbage along the roads near my house tossed out of car windows by inconsiderate louts. Beer cans, pop cans, plastic bottles, coffee cups and bags of (usually) McDonald’s trash.

Despite the frigid weather and snowfall we experienced in February, it turned out to be a great month. This is largely because February is I Love to Read Month, when schools across Manitoba share the importance and joy of reading with students.
