A Stonewall RCMP was recently assaulted and injured while arresting a suspect who was causing a disturbance at a business located on Road 236 in the Rural Municipality of Rosser, Manitoba.

On March 8, 2022, at approximately 11am, Stonewall RCMP responded to a disturbance in the RM of Rosser. It was reported that two intoxicated males were refusing to leave and one had assaulted the employee.

Officers attended the scene and located one of the male suspects in the parking lot. While officers were placing the suspect under arrest, he resisted, became combative and assaulted the officers.

RCMP say that more officers arrived on scene and the suspect, 32-year-old Zachary Bighetty, was arrested and taken into custody. Bighetty is facing numerous assault related charges related to this incident.

Police noted that a 36-year-old RCMP officer was taken to hospital with minor physical injuries related to this incident and later released. Another officer received minor physical injuries and did not require medical attention.
