On April 23, 2017, at approximately 3:20pm, Thompson RCMP responded to the Norplex Pool in in Thompson, Manitoba, for a possible drowning.

When officers arrived on scene, they found EMS workers performing CPR on an unresponsive 7-year-old boy, who was pulled from water by lifeguards. It is believed the boy, who is from Split Lake, MB, was with a group of friends and may have wandered off when he entered the water in a deeper part of the pool and was not able to keep himself afloat.

Police say that the boy was rushed to the local hospital where he was pronounced deceased as resuscitation efforts were not successful.

RCMP report that foul play is in not suspected in this incident an that Thompson RCMP, along with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, continue to investigate.
