Island Lake RCMP are asking the public for any information into the whereabouts of a missing man from Garden Hill First Nation, 42-year-old Harold Christopher Taylor.

On November 5, 2023, Island Lake RCMP received a report stating that Harold Christopher Taylor was missing. Harold was last seen on November 1, when it is believed that he took his boat to Wass Island to get firewood.

Police say that when Harold Taylor failed to return, community members began searching Wass Island and the surrounding areas. Searchers located his boat abandoned, floating near the shoreline of another island. Since then, the search has continued with search and rescue groups, boats and aircraft.

RCMP report that the Underwater Recovery Team will be attending the community to assist with the search.

Harold Taylor is described as 6’2″ tall, weighs 220 lbs, has black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black toque, black parka and dark coloured ski pants.

RCMP report that on November 10, 2023, at approximately 3:15pm, the Garden Hill Search and Rescue Team advised Island Lake RCMP that the body of Harold Christopher Taylor was located near Wass Island.
