Steinbach RCMP are asking the public for any information that may help locate 32-year-old Steven Wiebe from Pansy, Manitoba. Wiebe is wanted by police on numerous theft, driving and assault related charges.
On December 3, 2023, at approximately 3:05pm, Steinbach RCMP were alerted that a vehicle stolen in Vita on December 1, 2023, was currently situated in the parking lot near the Giant Tiger store on Main Street in Steinbach.
Officers attended the scene and attempted to apprehend the individuals involved. The male driver, later identified as 32-year-old Steven Wiebe, from Pansy, reversed the car into the Giant Tiger building, then sped forward into a police cruiser and civilian car numerous times. Wiebe then accelerated at a high rate of speed hitting the civilian car and striking an RCMP Officer. Police noted that the officer was later treated and released from hospital.
RCMP report that a 19-year-old female suspect, from Steinbach, was taken into custody and is facing numerous charges in connection to this incident. Steinbach RCMP had a warrant issued for Wiebe and he is currently wanted on charges of dangerous driving, driving while prohibited, assault a peace officer with a weapon, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, plus additional charges.
Police say that Wiebe was last seen driving a stolen black Mazda 3 bearing Manitoba license plate J32648.
