The City of Steinbach has announced that the finishing touches are now complete on new playground equipment and upgrades to Poplar Park, located between Poplar Crescent and Walnut Street.

The new playground includes a climbing structure, slide, balance beam and spring rider. A protective surface has been added this week under the new equipment as well as underneath the park’s existing swings and cable ride. The project was started last fall with the installation of equipment, however wet weather postponed completion until now.

“The renewal of our city’s recreation spaces is important,” said Steinbach Mayor Chris Goertzen. “Council recognizes this as a priority and has put aside a set amount every year for the renewal and enhancement of neighbourhood parks and this is one of the projects it has funded.”

The City noted that the upgrades to the park cost approximately $25,000.
