Portage la Prairie RCMP are reporting that two 16-year-old male youths are facing criminal charges after they pointed a toy gun at a vehicle traveling west on the Trans-Canada Highway.
On April 9, at approximately 7 :10pm, Portage la Prairie RCMP responded to a report that two male youths had pointed a firearm multiple times at a moving vehicle on the Trans-Canada Highway, near Highway 13.
Investigation determined that the both the driver and passenger of a westbound vehicle, pointed a green-coloured firearm at a female motorist.
Officers located the suspect vehicle, initiated a high-risk traffic stop and safely took the two male suspects into custody without incident. In the process, upwards of 30 vehicles were stopped on the Trans-Canada Highway while the traffic stop occurred.
Members noted that upon further examination, the firearms turned out to be toys.
RCMP report that two 16-year-old males, one from southwest of Winnipeg, the other from southwest of Portage la Prairie, are each facing a charge of a common nuisance of endangerment of life. Both individuals were released on undertakings.
