Manitoba RCMP are reporting that a small plane with four occupants was recently forced to make an emergency landing on a highway near Sandy Lake.

On June 25, at approximately 7:10pm, Yellowhead and Spruce Plains RCMP were alerted of a small aircraft in distress that was attempting to land on Highway 45.

Police sat that a TBM 8 single-engine aircraft had departed earlier in the day from The Pas and was en route to Brandon. During the flight, the pilot made an emergency landing on Highway 45, east of Sandy Lake, resulting in the aircraft coming to a stop in a ditch on the north side of the road.

RCMP report that four people were on the plane when it crashed. As a result, one of the occupants was taken to hospital with what were believed to be minor injuries.

Members noted that the Transportation Safety Board has been informed of the incident.
