A 14-year-old male youth has been arrested by Steinbach RCMP in connection to a recent armed robbery incident that occurred at a Steinbach business.

On March 8, 2020, at approximately 11pm, Steinbach RCMP were dispatched to a robbery in progress at a local business. Initial police investigation determined that the suspect threatened employees with a knife and demanded cash. The suspect then fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.

Subsequent investigation, involving General Duty, General Investigation Section and Police Dog Service members, identified a 14-year-old male youth as a suspect. After a foot chase at 1am the next morning, police apprehended the suspect who was then taken into custody.

RCMP report that the youth, who can not be named due to his age, has been charged with robbery, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, resisting arrest, carrying a concealed weapon and uttering threats.

Police say that the youth is currently being held in custody.
