A 13-year-old girl from Mitchell, Manitoba was transported via STARS to Winnipeg hospital after the dirt bike she was riding collided with a car in Mitchell.

On June 2, 2020, at approximately 2:33pm, Steinbach RCMP responded to a report of a collision between a car and motorcycle near the intersection of Cranberry Road and Centre Street South in Mitchell.

Police investigation revealed that a Toyota Echo, driven by a 69-year-old man from the Steinbach area, was proceeding south on Centre Street in Mitchell when he collided with a 125cc dirt bike. The rider of the dirt bike, a 13-year-old girl from Mitchell, was proceeding north in the southbound lane of Centre Street.

Police are saying the one of the factors for the collision may have been a cloud of dust from the gravel road that obscured the motor vehicle driver’s vision.

RCMP report that the driver of the car did not suffer any injuries. The 13-year-old girl did suffer non life threatening injuries and was transported via STARS to a Winnipeg Hospital.

Police are continuing their investigation into this incident.
