An aircraft, traveling from Vancouver to Toronto, was diverted to the Winnipeg International Airport due to an unruly male passenger. The man was subsequently arrested and charged.

On June 14, 2020, at approximately 2:25 pm, Winnipeg International Airport RCMP responded to a report of an unruly male passenger on a flight that was traveling from Vancouver to Toronto. The plane was diverting to Winnipeg in order to have the man removed from the aircraft.

Police say that a 60-year-old male passenger had lit a cigarette during the flight and refused to follow directions from the flight crew. He also refused to wear his personal protective face mask when directed to do so.

Upon arrival, the man was arrested without incident.

RCMP report that Balvir Singh, of Surrey, BC has been charged with mischief over $5,000, smoking onboard an aircraft and failing to comply with instructions of flight crew.
