Today’s five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 5.4 per cent provincially and 2.7 per cent in Winnipeg. As of 9:30am on November 8, 2021, 624 new cases of the virus have been identified since Friday: 130 cases on Friday, Nov. 5; 183 cases on Saturday, Nov. 6; 155 cases Sunday, Nov. 7; and 156 cases today. This includes:

  • 49 cases in the Interlake-Eastern health region;
  • 53 cases in the Northern health region;
  • 98 cases in the Prairie Mountain Health region;
  • 245 cases in the Southern Health-Santé Sud health region; and
  • 179 cases in the Winnipeg health region.

Six cases have been removed due to data correction. The total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba is 64,701.

There were 156 new cases identified in Manitoba today. Of these, 80 are in individuals who were not fully vaccinated. This includes:

  • nine new cases with three not fully vaccinated in the Interlake-Eastern health region;
  • seven new cases with three not fully vaccinated in the Northern health region;
  • 31 new cases with 17 not fully vaccinated in the Prairie Mountain Health region;
  • 56 new cases with 32 not fully vaccinated in the Southern Health-Santé Sud health region; and
  • 53 new cases with 25 not fully vaccinated in the Winnipeg health region.

Public health officials advise nine new deaths in people with COVID-19 are being reported today:

  • a female in her 40s from Northern health region linked to an unspecified variant of concern (reported Friday);
  • a female in her 90s from Prairie Mountain Health linked to an unspecified variant of concern and the outbreak at Benito Personal Care Home (reported Friday);
  • a male in his 70s from Prairie Mountain Health and linked to the outbreak at Health Sciences Centre GD2 (reported Friday);
  • a female in her 70s from Prairie Mountain Health linked to an unspecified variant of concern (reported Saturday);
  • a female in her 80s from Prairie Mountain Health linked to the outbreak at Benito Personal Care Home (reported Saturday);
  • a male in his 70s from Southern Health-Santé Sud (reported Saturday);
  • a female in her 70s from Southern Health-Santé Sud (reported Saturday);
  • a female in her 80s from Winnipeg health region linked to an unspecified variant of concern (reported Sunday); and
  • a female in her 70s from Southern Health-Santé Sud (reported Sunday).

Today’s data also shows:

  • 1,377 active cases and 62,062 individuals who have recovered from COVID-19;
  • 141 Manitobans hospitalized with COVID-19 including 112 people with active COVID-19 as well as 29 people who are no longer infectious;
  • a total of 26 Manitoba patients receiving intensive care for COVID-19 including 18 people in intensive care units with active COVID-19 as well as eight people who are no longer infectious but continue to require critical care;
  • 2,567 laboratory tests were completed yesterday bringing the total number of lab tests completed since early February 2020 to 1,113,563; and
  • the total number of deaths in people with COVID-19 is 1,262.

Outbreaks have been declared at:

  • Health Sciences CentreGD4 medical unit in Winnipeg;
  • Third Crossing Manor Personal Care Home in Gladstone;
  • Neepawa Health Centre in Neepawa; and
  • Russell Health Centre in Russell.

The facilities have been moved to Critical (Red) level on the #RestartMB Pandemic Response System.

The outbreaks at Ecole Saint-Malo School cohort grades 5 and 6, Springs Christian Academy Lagimodiere campus and Light of the North Covenant Church have been declared over.

Remembrance Day ceremonies can proceed following the gathering limits outlined in public health order 2:

  • at ceremonies where proof of vaccination is not required, indoor gatherings are limited to 25 people or 25 per cent capacity, whichever is lower, and outdoor gatherings are limited to 50 persons;
  • ceremonies in locations that are specifically addressed in the orders (e.g. licensed premises) must follow the orders specific to those locations; and
  • for ceremonies where proof of vaccination is required, there are no limits on gatherings.
