Manitoba recently reached a major milestone in the largest immunization campaign in the province’s history, as 50 per cent of people aged 18 and older have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.

The Pas RCMP are asking the public for any information into the whereabouts of a missing man from the community, 56-year-old Timothy Daniel Faickney.

The current five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 12 per cent provincially and 14.2 per cent in Winnipeg. As of 9:30am on May 15, 2021, 430 new cases of the virus have been identified. However, two cases have been removed due to data correction. This brings the net-new number of cases today to 428 and the total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba to 44,617.

Agriculture and Resource Development Minister Blaine Pedersen announced that the 2021-22 fishing season officially opens Saturday, May 15 in the southern division and Saturday, May 22 in the rest of the province.

Young people aged 12 and up are now eligible to book their first-dose appointments. To make the visit as easy as possible, young people aged 12 to 15 can either attend the appointment with a parent, guardian or caregiver, or bring a signed consent form at the time of their appointment.

Manitoba Conservation and Climate advises that with the fire risk being high to extreme across much of the province, additional fire and travel restrictions and an immediate ban on campfires are being implemented to ensure the safety of Manitobans and the prevention of new fire starts.

Manitoba is becoming one of the first jurisdictions in the country to allow young people aged 12 to 17 to book their Pfizer vaccine appointment, with the goal of protecting even more people, families and communities from the third wave of COVID-19.

The current five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 12 per cent provincially and 14.4 per cent in Winnipeg. As of 9:30am on May 13, 2021, 560 new cases of the virus have been identified. However, three cases have been removed due to data correction. This brings the net-new number of cases today to 557 and the total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba to 43,700.
