Manitoba Finance is extending its tax relief measures to provide extra support to businesses, as the province continues to protect Manitobans against the impacts of COVID-19.

The first doses of the AstraZeneca/Covishield vaccine are expected to arrive in Manitoba next week and will then be distributed to participating medical clinics and pharmacies. The province is recommending this vaccine be provided to adults aged 50 to 64 years, with priority given to those at increased risk of experiencing serious outcomes.

The current five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is three per cent provincially and 2.4 per cent in Winnipeg. As of 9:30am on March 5, 2021, 54 new cases of the virus have been identified. However, one case has been removed due to data correction. This brings the net-new number of cases today to 53 and the total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba to 32,104.

Widespread first-dose COVID-19 immunizations will begin in First Nation communities throughout the province, Northern Affairs communities and remote northern municipalities in mid-March.

Lundar RCMP are asking the public for any information into the whereabouts of a missing female teen, 17-year-old Rosina Thomas.

Eligibility for vaccination is expanding today to include people aged 89 and older for the general population and 69 years and older for First Nation people. To simplify the process, individuals can now book appointments based on their age on the date of booking.

A total of 160 warnings and 17 tickets were issued for the week of Feb. 22 to 28 including eight $1,296 tickets to individuals for various offences, seven $298 tickets to individuals for failure to wear a mask in indoor public places and two $5,000 tickets to a business.
