Following feedback from Manitobans and advice from public health leaders, the province is loosening a variety of restrictions while ensuring protocols are in place to protect Manitobans from the risks of COVID-19.

Pharmacies and medical clinics can now apply to the province to administer COVID-19 vaccines, in anticipation of suitable vaccines being authorized by the federal government in the future. This approach builds on their expertise in delivering other publicly funded vaccines including the annual flu campaign.

The current five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 5.9 per cent provincially and 4.2 per cent in Winnipeg. As of 9:30am on February 8, 2021, 53 new cases of the virus have been identified. However, one case has been removed due to a data correction. This brings the net-new number of cases today to 52 and the total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba to 30,289.

Manitoba’s public schools system will see another increase in the Funding of Schools Program for the 2021-22 school year of $20.8 million, or 1.56 per cent, for a total $1.35 billion, the highest total investment in Manitoba’s history.

The province is expanding access to rapid COVID-19 testing for personal care home (PCH) staff, following the successful trial of rapid testing for asymptomatic staff (staff with no symptoms of COVID-19) at three Manitoba personal care homes.

The current five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 6.1 per cent provincially and 3.8 per cent in Winnipeg. As of 9:30am on February 7,2021, 80 new cases of the virus have been identified, bringing the total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba to 30,237.

Health and Seniors Care Minister Heather Stefanson has announced that the Manitoba government will implement all 17 recommendations outlined in the external review of Maples Long Term Care Home.

The current five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 6.1 per cent provincially and 3.8 per cent in Winnipeg. As of 9:30am on February 6, 2021, 82 new cases of the virus have been identified, bringing the total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba to 30,158.

Manitoba continues to adjust its immunization plans in response to the ongoing reductions and delays in vaccine shipments to the province. Manitoba has been told it can expect 3,510 doses of Pfizer next week and 15,210 doses the week of Feb. 15. Manitoba does not have any delivery projections for Moderna.

The current five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is six per cent provincially and 3.5 per cent in Winnipeg. As of 9:30am on February 5, 2021, 110 new cases of the virus have been identified, bringing the total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba to 30,078.
