On December 23, 2009 at about 3:30am, Portage la Prairie RCMP on patrol located an intoxicated male operating a 2006 Arctic Cat snowmobile in the west end of the City of Portage La Prairie.

The snowmobile operator, a 19-year-old man from Portage la Prairie, was exhibiting signs of gross impairment. He was arrested and charges of care and control of a motor vehicle while over .08 are pending.

He was later released with court documents to appear in Portage la Prairie Provincial Court in the new year.

The snowmobile was impounded and no injuries were reported.

RCMP continue to investigate.

RCMP would like to remind the public that it is against the law to operate or be in care and control of an off road vehicle while impaired and that a snowmobile is not a safe alternative to a motor vehicle when drinking.
