Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our husband, father and grandfather, Lyle Awrey Baldwin on thursday, November 5, 2020, at the age of 80.

Lyle leaves to mourn his loving wife of 50 years, Bessie (Zimmerman), his children: Carey (Courtney), Jason (Lisa), Colleen (Pierre Saucier) and Wade; his grandchildren: Ethan, Rylen, Xander, Victoria, Kian and Xya. He is also survived by his sisters, Eileen, Cheryl (Terry Barsalou), along with his brothers, Wayne (Margo) and Grant (Gloria), as well as numerous other family members.

He was predeceased by his brother-in-law Edward Robert.

Dad was born January 2, 1940, in Winnipeg, MB. He grew up in Otterburne West. In 1972, Lyle and Bessie moved to the family farm which they took over from his parents. After 33 years of farming, Mom and Dad retired to St. Pierre in 2005, where he enjoyed his mornings at the Club Jolys.

Dad enjoyed numerous activities such as horseshoes, curling, hunting, fishing, baseball but most of all, he was always ready for a game of cards. Every Sunday growing up, you’d find Dad and the kids at the kitchen table playing Oh Hell, 500, poker, Chase the Ace, Canasta or battling his eldest son at a game of Crokinole. Family was extremely important to Lyle; he rarely missed the opportunity to celebrate with his family and friends.

His pride and joy was watching his grandchildren grow. As babies, you could find him lying on the floor playing with them. He always tried his best to go watch the kids in their numerous activities to cheer them on, and spoil them rotten.

He will be remembered for his colourful language and his infectious laugh. HMMMM…

The family would like to extend their thanks to Dr. Kiani and the Palliative Care program.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba.

The family will host a memorial service at a later date.
