Obituary

The family of Vivian Paquette wishes to announce her peaceful passing at age 89, at the Rock Lake Hospital in Crystal City, Manitoba, on April 5, 2026, with her loved ones present. In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place.

Vivian was predeceased by her grandmother, Teenie Pinkus (Diduch), parents Stephanie and Buster Berlin, brother Donald Zornik, and niece Kathy (Dan) Balcewich.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 66 years, Armand Paquette, daughter Sherri Corder, grandchildren Naomi (Connor) Evans, Jaclyn (Joel) Young, Daniel (Beth) Corder, Stephanie Corder, and Andrea (Alekhya) Corder. Great-grandchildren, Easton and Maverick, Kayden and Kasey, and Murphy. Her aunt and uncle, Olga and John Haligowski, and her in-laws, Laura and Neil Conner. Special extended family members: David Corder, Ken (Rita) Paquette, Ray (Shelley) Paquette. And many nieces, nephews, and grands.

Born in Winnipeg to Stephanie and Harry Zornik, Vivian grew up in the north end in her early years. When she was 12, her mother married Buster Berlin, and they moved into a brand new house in West Kildonan. Following graduation, she was employed by the Bank of Montreal on Portage and Main. This was where she met and became friends with Laura, who introduced her to her brother Armand, and as they say, “the rest is history!”

Vivian and Armand married on August 1, 1959, in Winnipeg and continued to live and work in the city until 1973, when they bought a small rural property in Arden, Manitoba. Life there was great, but in search of yet a larger property, they made another move in 1979 to the R.M. of Brokenhead. Here, they enjoyed growing and processing harvest from their very large garden. Mom took pride in her pickles and preserves. She was well known among family and friends as a generous host, preparing hot, sit-down meals for the frequent visitors they entertained.

Surprisingly, she was a skilled video game player and taught her grandkids the ropes. There were many sleepovers with grandkids and late-night gaming. At this time, she also began a new career adventure in medical billing. Being a lover of numbers, this was a great fit for her. She was meticulous. Her generosity also shone through by assuming primary care, along with Armand, for her granddaughter for 14 years. She was genuinely selfless.

A Celebration of Life will take place in Steinbach, Manitoba, at 1:00 pm on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at Crossings Funeral Care, 12 E-40 North Gate Drive, Steinbach, Manitoba.

We wish to extend thanks to the staff at Ste. Anne Hospital and Rock Lake Hospital for the care and kindness they provided.

Rest in peace, Mom. We will miss you.
