It is with deep sadness we announce that Mikaël François Joseph Lemoine passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at 1:05 p.m. He left us peacefully, surrounded by his loving family.
Mikaël leaves behind his parents Luc Lemoine and Diane Gagnon, brother Stephane (Teri-Ann Trach), brother Simon, and sister Stella (Guy Dubois), as well as his nephews Nicholas, Miguel and Xavier, nieces Isabelle and Sophie, and the love of his life, his fiancée Amanda Hope. He also leaves behind Amanda’s parents Dan Hope and Susan Miller Hope, her brother Chris (Nicole Laurila) and many extended family and friends.
Mikaël was truly one of a kind. He had an incredible sense of humour and charismatic personality that captivated everyone he met. Mikaël had a way of drawing a person in and making them feel comfortable. He enjoyed good food and entertaining. One of his favourite pastimes was to cook meals for those he loved – usually with a bottle of red wine. He was also gifted musically and many people throughout his life were lucky to hear him play the piano.
Everyone who knew Mikaël knew about his flair for “all things fancy.” This included his impeccable style, love of the opera, ballet, classic music, nice restaurants, wine festivals and the best ingredients for the meals he made. He enjoyed life and exploring the world, and he travelled to many places with his family and his fiancée Amanda. Recently, Mikaël worked in Paris and loved telling stories about his experiences there. He then moved to a new job at Manitoba Metis Federation and worked in the Early Learning and Childcare department.
Born in Winnipeg on May 2, 1984, Mikaël grew up in both Ile-des-Chenes and Ste. Agathe. He was a fully bilingual Franco-Manitoban, with a deep Catholic faith he shared with his family. His work with the church took him to both Arkansas and a monastery in Quebec. His journey through life was truly unique, and it led him to the place where he always said he was happiest – living in Osborne Village in Winnipeg, exploring the neighbourhood and planning for a future filled with more adventures.
The livestreamed funeral service will be held on Friday, April 8, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach, MB. A reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers or donations, we know Mik would love everyone to raise a glass of their favourite drink and toast his memory.
